TOK exhibition 2024
The IB is widely recognised for its rigorous curriculum that not only encourages students to study a diverse range of subjects but also sharpens their critical thinking abilities. At the core of the IB program and its focus on critical thought is Theory of Knowledge (TOK). In TOK, students examine the nature of knowledge itself and consider how it influences their learning and perspectives on the world. The course challenges them with fundamental questions such as: What is knowledge? Why do we seek knowledge? Are some things unknowable? The assessment in TOK is centred around the TOK Exhibition and a reflective essay that builds on the exhibition's themes.
In the TOK exhibition, each student selects a knowledge question from a list of 35 options and chooses three personal objects to explore that question. These objects, along with the chosen question and the insights the student gained from them, are displayed during the exhibition for students, parents, and teachers to observe.
On the 25th of September, the 3IB TOK exhibition at Nesbru VGS took place, marking an important academic achievement for the students. The event provided the 3IBs with the chance to present their personal explorations of TOK prompts, connecting real-world objects to questions of knowledge and its acquisition.
Parents and staff were invited to attend the exhibition and showed great interest in the students' work. They visited each table, listening attentively to the students’ explanations of their chosen objects and the connections to TOK themes. Many parents asked insightful questions, sparking discussions and engaging the students in deeper reflections on their projects. Their active involvement made the event feel even more dynamic, as students had the chance to share their knowledge with an eager and supportive audience.
In support of the 3IB class, the 2IB students organised a bake sale during the exhibition, raising money for the 3IB yearbooks. With their amazing hard work, the bake sale was a huge success. The funds raised will help create lasting memories for the 3IB students as they prepare to graduate next Spring.
